Screenwest has opened a competitive travel round to support WA screen producers attending Film Bazaar at the International Film Festival of India (IFFI), taking place in Goa, India from 20 – 24 November 2024.
Film Bazaar was initiated by the National Film Development Corporation (NFDC) and has evolved into South Asia’s global film market. It is organised every year alongside the prestigious International Film Festival of India and is a converging point for South Asian and international filmmakers, producers, sales agents and festival programmers.
Australia will have a strong presence at IFFI and Film Bazaar in 2024. An Australian / India Co-Production Day will take place in Goa on 22 November, following the new Australia-India Co-Production agreement that was formalised in 2023. The agreement is set to help Australian producers reach new audiences, open up new avenues for industry investment and boost distribution for Australian producers in one of the world’s largest and growing markets.
Screen Australia and the Film Facilitation Office of India recently hosted a webinar about the India-Australia Co-production Treaty. Watch a recording here.
WA First Nations practitioners and WA practitioners from historically underrepresented groups are encouraged to apply.
A set amount of up to $5,000 to assist with flights, accommodation and registration will be provided. A budget is not required as part of the application.
This is a competitive round and only a limited number of practitioners will be supported.
