Applications are open for travel funding to attend MIFF PostScript&Direct and 37ºSouth Market 2024
Screenwest has opened a competitive travel round for Melbourne International Film Festival (MIFF) 2024 industry programs PostScript&Direct and the 37ºSouth Market, taking place in Victoria in August 2024. Applications for the travel round close Monday June 17, 2024 at 5.00pm AWST.
Screenwest has opened a competitive travel round for Melbourne International Film Festival (MIFF) 2024 industry programs PostScript&Direct and the 37ºSouth Market, taking place in Victoria in August 2024.
In order to be eligible for support, applicants must have been invited by MIFF to attend either PostScript&Direct or 37ºSouth Market.
PostScript&Direct (10-11 August 2024) is designed for writers and/or directors to participate in a competitive networking program, pitching to a range of Australian and New Zealand producers.
37ºSouth Market (8-11 August 2024) is a selective event for producers to pitch their script-stage projects to potential financiers.
WA First Nations practitioners and WA practitioners from historically underrepresented groups are encouraged to apply.
A set amount of $2,000 to assist with flights, accommodation and registration will be provided and as such, a budget is not required as part of the application. Only a limited number of practitioners will be supported.
Eligibility
Applicants must:
- Be a Western Australian resident and meet the general eligibility requirements set out in the Screenwest Terms of Trade.
- Hold the underlying rights to at least two to three projects in development with market potential OR genuine market interest in at least one project.
- Provide a summary of projects being taken to market (including proof of market interest) and a rationale for attending the market.
- Provide a copy of their invitation to attend PostScript&Direct or 37ºSouth.
Applicants will be responsible for purchasing their registration to attend PostScript&Direct and 37ºSouth.
Screenwest will only fund one person per project / company to attend each industry program.
How to Apply
Applications will be accepted through the Screenwest SmartyGrants portal.
Applications will be assessed against the following criteria:
- The applicant’s track record, including relevant and recent credits.
- Merit of the opportunity as presented in the application and outcomes of attendance.
- Viability of the applicants submitted project/s, including market interest provided.
- Potential economic and cultural benefits to the Western Australian screen sector more broadly.
