Screenwest Announces YouTube Creator Program with Changer Studios for Western Australia
Screenwest is excited to open registrations for the free YouTube Fundamentals Workshop, Career Building Workshop and applications for the Creator Accelerator Program. Applications for the Creator Accelerator Program close Monday, 5 October at 5:00pm AWST.
The YouTube Creator Program has been designed to shape the new media landscape by growing Western Australia’s next generation of YouTube creators and build a stronger culture of creative entrepreneurship.
The program will be delivered by Changer Studios online in collaboration with YouTube, supported by Screenwest and Lotterywest. The new online delivery model will enable practitioners from across Western Australia to participate, including those based regionally.
The program offers two free, online workshops for emerging practitioners to hone their skills including Fundamentals of Success on YouTube and How to build a career and earn revenue on YouTube.
The program will also provide the opportunity for a up to 20 WA Content Creators to apply to take part in the advanced Creator Accelerator Program.
The YouTube Creator Program is also designed to;
- assist emerging, mid-career and established online storytellers enhance their skills and focus their ambition;
- create new, original Western Australian narrative content made specifically for global online audiences;
- drive diversity, to develop content from a variety of storytellers and stories which reflect a variety of cultures and views within Western Australia on screen.
“We are incredibly excited to be able to offer this program to Western Australian practitioners in order to support the creation of new online content which is more representative of the people within our community,” explained Chantal Chateauneuf, Interim Talent Development Manager at Screenwest.

Workshop 1: Fundamentals of Success on YouTube
- Online: Thursday, 1 October 2020 at 6:00 – 8:00pm AWST
- This free online workshop will help you take your YouTube channel to the next level.
If you have a YouTube channel and want to better understand how to boost viewership and subscribers, or if you aspire to be a YouTube creator but don’t know where to start, then this workshop is for you!
It’ll be jam-packed with world-leading YouTube knowledge and pro tips, with Changer’s insights gained from working with successful international creators and numerous collaborations with the best minds in digital video.
The workshop will cover:
- How YouTube actually works
- How to work with the algorithms
- The key thing all successful channels have in common
- Video optimisation
- How to get your videos watched (by the right audience)
Workshop 2: How to Build a Career and Earn Revenue on YouTube
- Online: Thursday, 22 October 2020 6:00 – 8:00pm AWST
- Changer will show you how to make money from YouTube and build a career as a creator.
This free online workshop will show you:
- How to grow your YouTube revenue
- How to build multiple revenue streams
- How many subscribers you need to make a living as a creator (hint: it’s a lot fewer than you think)
- Also, get your burning questions answered during the AMA
Changer have helped some of the biggest and best YouTubers in the world to build sustainable careers as creators and will be sharing those insights and tips with you in this online workshop!
Emphasising the importance of a creative entrepreneurial mindset, the Changer team will offer insights and practical tips to help the audience identify and take advantage of revenue earning opportunities on YouTube.
This event is full of world-leading YouTube knowledge and pro tips.

Applications must be submitted by 5:00pm AWST Monday 5 October 2020 through the Changer Studios Landing Page (not through Screenwest)

- Check in sessions: 6 November, 13 November, 27 November and 4 December 2020
There is no pre-requisite to have completed Workshop 1 or 2 to apply for the Accelerator Program, however is designed for established YouTube content creators.
The Creator Accelerator Program is the advanced development program for the new creator generation.
It is an intensive program for established and advanced Western Australian content creators to develop and leverage new opportunities in the rapidly changing media landscape.
The course takes place over four sessions, and features world-leading insights from top experts and creators from all over the world.
Due to COVID-19, this program will be held as online virtual sessions with guest speakers and interactivity.
