New Screenwest (Australia) Ltd Board Directors Sally Carbon OAM, John Gardner, Michael Ottaviano

The inaugural Screenwest (Australia) Ltd Board of Directors has been announced and consists of previous Screenwest Inc members and three new members.  The Board will continue to be led by Chair Janelle Marr.

“During this time of change, the Board of Directors will bring to Screenwest (Australia) Ltd stability and strong corporate knowledge with a focus on establishing a best practice governance framework from the outset,” said Marr.

“The Board will work closely with the recently announced screen Industry Advisory Group, to assist Screenwest to engage with the sector and provide advice on trends and issues impacting the Western Australian screen industry.

“We welcome Sally Carbon, John Gardner and Michael Ottaviano to the Board of Directors.

“Each brings extensive experience and a skill set that will greatly benefit the organisation and the screen sector.

“Sally is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and has extensive expertise in business strategy, strategic planning, governance and marketing across all sectors, with private clients from both commercial sectors and not-for-profit.

“John has more than 20 years’ experience in corporate and financial communication. He has specialist skills in strategic communication, investor relations, issues and crisis management, media relations and reputation management.

“Michael has significant experience in technology innovation, product development, entrepreneurship and commercialisation. He also has experience in the culture and arts space, including screen and music.”

The Screenwest (Australia) Ltd Board of Directors are:

Chris Holman is the Board representative on the Industry Advisory Group (IAG).

The Board of Directors will be paid an honorary fee, as will the IAG members.

Marr thanked Screenwest Inc Board members Stephen Langsford who completed his term on 30 June 2017 and Sue Taylor who has moved from the Board to the IAG.

“I would like to acknowledge the huge contribution of outgoing Board members Sue Taylor and Stephen Langsford as well as Aidan O’Bryan whose term ended in December,” she said.

“Sue, Stephen and Aidan contributed to numerous panels, reviews, initiatives and sub-committees over the years,” Marr said.

“Sue championed the importance of a vibrant independent local sector and reminded us of the realities and challenges the local industry faces.  Stephen’s guidance with finance and tech-related matters and Aidan’s passion and input into the strategic direction of the agency and the industry, was much appreciated.”

“Sue has taken up the position of IAG Chair and we look forward to continuing to work closely with her and all the IAG members.”

About Sally Carbon OAM FAICD BA Ed

Ms Carbon is the owner and managing director of her private company Green Eleven which provides strategic business planning and advice for clients including large national and international companies, local governments and not-for-profits. Green Eleven assists such clients in business growth. Ms Carbon is a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and current non-executive director of the Apollo Health, St John Ambulance, Australian Sports Foundation and an advisory board member of UWA Sport.  She also chairs a federal government finance, audit and risk committee. She is an Olympic and World Cup gold medallist, a dual Olympian, represented Australia in sport for 12 years, and has published seven books.

He is also a Non-Executive Director of Nuheara Ltd, the first ASX-listed wearables technology company. He was previously a director of the Clean Energy Council, Australia’s renewable energy peak industry body and a Senior Manager, Business Performance Services at KPMG.
