Hi, I’m Willie Rowe, CEO at Screenwest, and welcome to my November vlog.
Firstly, WA has received 21 AACTA Award nominations across seven projects, which is very exciting for the industry here.
These include Electric Pictures’ HOTEL MUMBAI, The Penguin Empire’s I AM MOTHER.
In the doco space, 100 DAYS TO VICTORY with Electric Pictures and DON’T STOP THE MUSIC with Artemis.
In the shorts, YULUBIDYI – UNTIL THE END with Black Russian Productions, which I think is terrific as well, and there’s also a couple of online award nominations.
We look forward to seeing the announcements in December.
Also this month, we welcomed five new members to the Industry Advisory Group…
the group that helps the board out in getting feedback from the industry and feeding back information out to the industry.
Those new members are Grady Habib, Taryne Laffar, David Vincent Smith, Chris Veerhuis and Kate Separovich, so welcome to all of those.
On the staffing front, we’ve been delighted to welcome Alex Biddle.
Alex has joined us as our Communications Manager and comes to us from AWESOME Arts Festival, so she’s well and truly got her feet under the desk and we’ll see some great stuff coming out publicly about Screenwest, so keep an eye out for that.
Last week, Scary at the Square was held at Yagan Square to celebrate Halloween.
We worked with the U.S. Consulate General with Development WA and a whole range of other community-based and government organisations to bring this to the screen.
It was a fantastic event, despite the weather. Everyone who was there had a great time.
Thanks very much,
Willie Rowe
Screenwest CEO
