Screen Industry Invited to Submit Ideas for Generation Content
Today Emergence Creative Festival announced the second instalment of their Generation Content initiative, which will be part of the upcoming Emergence Creative Festival held 25 -27 March in Margaret River. Generation Content submissions are now open and the panel is seeking ideas for scripted series, features, shorts, animation and factual concepts from Western Australian screen practitioners
Generation Content is a two day pitching and story development workshop held at the festival. The workshop provides WA screen industry practitioners access to decision-makers and leaders in the screen industry.
Shortlisted applicants will be invited to attend a full day of skills development workshops run by screen industry experts which will focus on story development and pitching techniques.
Mentors include key industry leaders from around Australia , including Heckler Creative Director Glenn Urqhuart (ex-Foxtel, Sydney), Clare Gerber of Social Parade (ex-ABC and Disney, Sydney), Talent Development Manager of Screenwest Eva Di Blasio, Chris Veerhuis of Veerhuis Pictures and first assistant director Mark Boskell with more to be announced soon.
Event Director Erin Molloy encouraged all practitioners from emerging to established to apply for the unique opportunity.
“Emergence brings some incredible minds from around Australia and the globe to WA so this is a fantastic opportunity for local Western Australian talent to develop their craft, pitch their ideas, broaden their network and potentially further their careers.”
“We really urge anyone that’s been sitting on an idea for a series, feature or anything of the like to take this opportunity to get it in front of key stakeholders and mentors.”
Willie Rowe, CEO of Screenwest added, “Generation Content provides screen practitioners with the chance to be mentored by industry professionals and develop a captivating Western Australian story. It’s a fantastic opportunity for new ideas to develop and for emerging practitioners to use a variety of techniques to develop their skills.”
The initiative is derived from a collective desire to foster, up-skill and mentor emerging screen talent in Western Australia and create high-quality, meaningful Western Australian content, with an aim to provide employment opportunities in the industry and within the state.
Practitioners who are interested in applying should visit the Emergence Website for more information and instructions on how to submit.
