A new series with a delicious twist of Western Australian produce, characters and adventures starring comic and cultural man Derek Nannup and one-of-a-kind Indigenous chef ‘The Black Olive’ Mark Olive, ON COUNTRY KITCHEN begins airing Wednesday, 24 May at 7:30pm on NITV.
Launched at Indigenart Gallery in Subiaco by Hon David Templeman MLA Minister for Local Government; Heritage; Culture and the Arts, guests enjoyed the first episode and a selection of food featuring native WA ingredients, amongst stunning indigenous artworks.
Co-written and directed by Karla Hart (FAMILY RULES), co-produced and co-written by Taryne Laffar and produced by Marian Bartsch (SURFING THE MENU, THE WALER: AUSTRALIA’S GREAT WAR HORSE) of Mago Films, the six part series was filmed entirely in Western Australia.
“Being a proud West Australian and Noongar woman, I have a love of country. Travelling through the stunning countryside of the South West of Australia was a highlight for me on this series,” said Hart.
The cultural and food program incorporates native WA ingredients with fresh produce, and lifestyle and culture.
The series was proudly supported by Screenwest, Lotterywest and Tourism Western Australia.
ON COUNTRY KITCHEN airs weekly on NITV starting Wednesday, 24 May at 7:30pm.
