The buzz from Busselton at CinéfestOZ

WA feature The Toll screened on Sunday on the final day of CinéfestOZ 2010. The Australian/French film festival screened five WA features and a number of short films in an ambitious and successful programme. Busselton played host to a number of filmmakers and actors whose work was screened at the festival.Producers Ryan Hodgson, Michael Robinson and Melissa Kelly from the WA feature Blame attended with writer/director Michael (Hank) Henry and actors Kestie Morasi and Ashley Zukerman. WA thriller Needle brought director John Soto, producer Deidre Kitcher and actors Khan Chittenden and Luke Carroll to Busselton. WA drama Little Sparrows was screened with writer/director Camille Chen in attendance along with producer Eva Di Blasio and actors Nicola Bartlett, Nina Deasley and James Hagan. Director Amanda Jane spoke at the screening of her film The Wedding Party and the film’s actor Steve Bisley was presented with the inaugural Great Australian Film Legends Award. Rounding out the visiting talent were Passengers director Michael Bond, Beneath Hill 60 director Jeremy Sims, director Zak Hilditch and producer Antony Webb from The Toll and The Tree producer Sue Taylor.
Guests were treated to the best of South West produce and wines from the Margaret River region at the special events held during the festival. The Directors Lunch at Clairault Winery was a particular highlight and guests from The Tree and Blame celebrated into the night on Saturday at a Gala Party at The Goose Café.
