Reminder: PAC Script Lab Wednesday, 1 February

24 January 2012
Those Daring Devils by Lesley Elizabeth Langs will be the focus of PAC Script Lab's first film script reading of the year. Those Daring Devils is a historical drama that tells the true tale of Keith Anderson and his best friend Sir Charles Kingsford Smith, who pledged to be the first to cross the Pacific Ocean in the 1920s. PAC Script Lab takes place at the Subiaco Arts Centre next Wednesday, 1 February.

Perth-born Keith Anderson and his best mate ‘Smithy' flew for Western Australian Airways. They started a trucking company in WA and a charter flight business in NSW. They fell in love with the same woman all whilst pledging to be the first to cross the Pacific Ocean together. When Smithy leaft Anderson for a new flying partner he became rich and famous with an airport named after him, his face plastered on postage stamps and the Australian $20 note. Meanwhile Anderson was left behind. Those Daring Devils tells Anderson's lost story of ambition, betrayal and courage set in the rip-roaring 1920s.

"This is a story about two men who shared the same dream. One achieved it and in doing so made history while the other was left behind," says scriptwriter Lesley Elizabeth Langs.

Professional actors will deliver a rehearsed reading of Those Daring Devils where the public can show their support for local talent and play an active part in the script development process.

Audience members will have opportunity to offer their thoughts by filling out a feedback form after the reading.
