MIPCOM 2008 and Travel Opportunities

ScreenWest is offering a number of opportunities under different funding schemes to Western Australian producers who would like to attend MIPCOM this year.


MIPCOM is the global content event for co-producing, buying, selling, financing and distributing entertainment content across all platforms. It provides the key decision-makers in the TV, film, digital and audiovisual content, production and distribution industry with the only market conference and networking forum to discover future trends and trade content rights on a global level.

MIPCOM 2008 Presentation

The Managing Director of the Reed Midem Organisation UK, Peter Rhodes will be visiting Perth on 21 July to meet participants and potential exhibitors to MIPCOM 2008, to be held from 13 - 17 October.

Practitioner Development Travel Funding

Applicants who are seeking Practitioner Development Travel Funding for this year's MIPCOM market should submit their application to ScreenWest by Monday, July 28.

Application forms and guidelines can be downloaded from the Practitioner Development Travel guidelines page.

Practitioners wishing to attend MIPCOM are also encouraged to apply to Screen Australia's funding round, closing on Friday, August 1, 2008.

All applications will be assessed on a competitive basis as soon as possible following the closing date.

Singapore Co-Production Stopover Opportunity

ScreenWest is in discussion with Singapore's Media Development Authority (MDA) to foster greater co-production opportunities with Singaporean companies. 

On Thursday and Friday,October 9 and 10, 2008, MDA will host meetings and visits to leading Singaporean production, publishing, animation, and post production facilities for the selected Western Australian producers. The MDA will also provide social function on Friday, 10 October 2008 to meet potential co-producers.

ScreenWest is offering three nights free hotel accommodation in Singapore for up to six experienced producers to stopover on their way to MIPCOM. Funding will be capped at $600 per producer.

Producers who are interested in developing co-productions with Singaporean production companies, but are not intending to attend MIPCOM, can also apply.

The final decision on selected producers will be made at the same time as the Travel & Marketing assessments, which close on July 28 2008.
