Call for applications: Deadly Yarns 4
Western Australian Indigenous filmmakers are invited to submit their ‘deadliest short story' for the fourth series of the Deadly Yarns short film initiative. Applications close Thursday June 5, 2008.
Deadly Yarns is a joint initiative of ScreenWest, ABC Television and the Film and Television Institute WA (FTI), designed to showcase the work of Indigenous writers, directors and producers through the production of five minute films.
The Deadly Yarns 4 initiative follows on from the success of the previous three series and invites Western Australian Indigenous filmmakers to explore their short story ideas in either a documentary, drama, doco-drama or animation format.
The initiative aims to further develop skills and opportunities for Indigenous writers, directors and producers by providing developmental and financial assistance. A budget of up to $20,000 for documentaries and $30,000 for dramas has been allocated.
The final productions will be broadcast to a national television audience via ABC TV's Message Stick program.
Applicants are urged to read the guidelines before making an application. For more information or advice on your application visit the FTI website or contact the Deadly Yarns 4 Coordinator Yvette Coyne at the FTI on 94316700.
