‘Red Dog’ wins Best Film at the AACTA Awards
Box office success story ‘Red Dog' has continued its extraordinary run at the inaugural Samsung AACTA Awards, taking home the award for Best Film on Tuesday night after receiving the AFI Member's Choice Award at an earlier ceremony. ‘Cloudstreet' rising star, Lara Robinson also received the Award for Best Young Actor for her performance as young Rose Pickles in the acclaimed three part television series shot on location in Perth. Meet ABC’s commisioner of factual TV and documentary
Chris Thorburn, the Commissioning Editor of ABC TV documentaries, will be holding a briefing session for WA documentary producers and factual content makers interested in contemporary and factual entertainment series. ‘Whale Patrol’ nominated at French Nature Film Festival
‘Whale Patrol’ from Sea Dog Films has been nominated in the conservation category at the Bird and Nature Film Festival in Abbeville, France. The documentary highlights the efforts of the Department of Environment and Conservation's (DEC) marine mammal rescue team and follows the remarkable and perilous journey of close to 17,000 Humpback whales as they leave their summer feeding grounds in Antarctica for breeding sites in tropical waters off the west coast of Australia. Reminder: PAC Script Lab Wednesday, 1 February
'Those Daring Devils' by Lesley Elizabeth Langs will be the focus of PAC Script Lab's first film script reading of the year. 'Those Daring Devils' is a historical drama that tells the true tale of Keith Anderson and his best friend Sir Charles Kingsford Smith, who pledged to be the first to cross the Pacific Ocean in the 1920s.
