Closing date: AFI Awards entries in documentary, short fiction and short animation categories

The Australian Film Institute would like to remind Western Australian filmmakers that entries for its 2008 Awards close on Wednesday May 14 in the documentary, short fiction and short animation categories. 

The AFI Awards are held each year to celebrate excellence in Australian film and television, with this year marking the Award's 50th anniversary.

This year, there have been a number of changes in the entry process, including a paperless entry system, reduction in some entry fees and a change to the television closing date. 

The AFI have also made it easier for smaller feature films to be included by allowing films released on DVD or made on a small budget and having a single screen release, to be included.

More information about these changes is included in the 2008 AFI Awards Rule Book, which is available to download on the AFI website.  The AFI has also released an information sheet to outline the key changes.
